Evan has a bizarre sexual fantasy about Kelly. Roger thinks it has to do with the fact that Evan hasn't had sex since the divorce. Kelly brings Tim bad news: the twins' alcoholic mother has cleaned up her act and may get the parental right back. Tim is frustrated but Kelly reminds him he knew this could happen when he agreed to be foster parent. Roger's stepmother Mildred is hospitalized with some gall bladder problem. However, Roger soon clashes with the obnoxious second year resident that treats her as he finds evidence that Mildred's real problem is a cardiac infarction. Roger has never really gotten along with his stepmother, and his dad, Vincent, is no man of emotions and dislikes it when Roger announces that Mildred needs surgery. A depressed Tim loses it when Nina tells him the insurance company SteadyCare refuses to cover the medical bills for one of their patients so they must send the patient a bill.
