Chihiro, a hostess, lives with her childhood friend Mari, an aspiring picture book author who has yet to find success. One day, while on a date with her boyfriend Yamashita, a physiognomist predicts that she will soon come into great wealth. Sure enough, a lottery ticket Yamashita bought hits the jackpot, and to top it off, one of Mari’s picture books wins a contest. Word of this spreads quickly, and people flock to Chihiro, hoping to benefit from the good fortune she seemingly brings to those around her.
